Shower Modifications
Shower Platforms
These custom-made items are constructed from aluminium and are finished with a textured black powdercoat. The platform provides a false floor to the same height as the shower entrance.
As this is a custom item, measurements will need to be taken by our tradesman prior to being constructed. During installation, a lifting tool/arm is provided so the platform can be easily lifted for cleaning purposes. We recommend lifting the shower platform weekly in order to allow the item to dry properly.
Weighted Shower Curtain
A white striped polyester curtain which has a bottom hem that forms a closed pocket. A thin wire is contained within the closed pocket that provides weight to the shower curtain so that the curtain does not blow out from the side of the shower/tub during showering.
Available sizes: 1800mm X 1800mm (or) 2000mm X 2000mm.
Wall Mounted Shower Seats
Wall mounted shower seats are useful when there is limited space within the shower recess. They provide a safe seating option for showering and, once mounted, the seat can easily fold up and down which allows ease of access in and out of the shower. Shower seats come in a range of widths including 450mm, 600mm, 700mm, 800mm, 960mm (all 400mm deep).
We can also provide bariatrich seats rated to 350kg. **All items subject to site visit due to stud placement etc.
Hand Held Shower Hoses
This unit consists of a chrome high pressure head and a 2 metre shower hose. The hand shower can be installed in place of an existing shower rose with a non drilling hook.
Additional chrome hooks can be installed upon request.
If both the existing rose and hand shower hose are required, a switchcock diverter can sometimes be installed.
This device allows the water flow to be diverted from either outlet using a push/pull motion.
Hand Held Shower Hose on Sliding Rails
Similar to a hand held shower hose, this unit consists of a chrome high pressure head and 2 metre shower hose that attaches to a 600mm stainless steel knurled grab rail. This allows the shower head to be adjusted to any height along the rail, and can also be used as a hand held shower.
Shower Screen Removals
Removal of shower screens can provide easier access to the shower area. This is usually done by simply removing the door/s to the entrance of the shower.
We recommend the installation of an aluminium curtain track and weighted shower curtain to help prevent water splashing out from the shower as well as leaving the top and bottom tracks of the shower frame in place.
If required, removal of the bottom track can be done (subject to site visit), however, this must be clearly stated on OT’s paperwork when submitting any requests for modifications.
If a wider access is required for a wheelchair or similar, the entire shower screen and side panels can be removed and a custom curtain track can be installed.
Note: When requesting the removal of a shower screen please also include
the installation of a shower rod and curtain.
Note: Curtain tracks can be modified to suit most shapes or sizes.
Note: Shower screens are unable to be removed if a power point is within 2m from the shower.
Curtain rods/shower tracks
When an existing shower screen has been removed, we can install custom curtain tracks to suit most shower layouts.
Shower tracks are constructed from aluminium and, combined with a weighted shower curtain, can help prevent water from splashing out whilst showering.
In some cases, after a shower screen has been removed, a curtain track will not be sufficient (if a powerpoint is within 2m of the shower) and a glass panel may need to be installed to suit Australian Standards).
